Religious Education

“The essential place of religious education in a Church school flows from our deep commitment to the flourishing of every child.” Religious Education Statement of Entitlement for Church of England Schools (2026)

In Church of England schools, where pupils and staff come from all faiths and none, Religious Education is a highly valued academic subject.

Through the study of Christianity alongside other religions and worldviews, pupils develop religious literacy and learn to engage thoughtfully in balanced and informed conversations about belief, identity, meaning and purpose. The Chelmsford Diocesan Board of Education believes that high-quality RE reflects the school's Christian vision and prepares children and young people to live well together in a diverse society.
